Kalorama “Politics and Power” Private Guided Walking Tour

Saturday July 20 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT

$25.00 – $30.00

Our last walking tour of Mid-century Modern Architecture in SW DC sold out quickly and was a big hit! By popular demand, we are hosting another tour by the same tour guide – this one on “Politics and Power” in the Kalorama Neighborhood of DC.

PLEASE NOTE: The tour starts PROMPTLY at 10:00am! Please be early, we do not want to have to wait! The tour will end at 12:00. Those of us who sign up for the brunch will walk together (0.4 mi.) to No Goodbyes restaurant at 1770 Euclid St NW.

About the Neighborhood:

Kalorama started as a farm rising above the City of Washington but became a cultural and political epicenter of the city from the time Joel Barlow moved there in 1807. Kalorama has been home to more Presidents of the United States than any other location in the world (other than the White House of course!). Today it’s home to Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, the French Ambassador and many more.

It is also the location of Washington’s grandest and most elaborate pre-war buildings. Come explore the architectural styles of those buildings and hear the stories of the people who shaped the neighborhood and the city as a whole. You will also learn about the most important espionage event of World War II which happened in Kalorama.

The tour is led by Joseph Himali, a raconteur and local real estate agent, who is well known through his Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts (@bestaddress).

About the Restaurant:

No Goodbyes is a 0.4 mile walk from the end of the tour. This hidden gem has a 5 star rating on TripAdvisor. The restaurant is located inside the Line hotel, which occupies the former First Church of Christ Scientist, built in 1912. The architecture is a Neoclassical Revival style, with colossal columns framing the grand entrance. The lobby is spectacular, featuring 60-foot vaulted ceilings, grand copper entry doors, intricate millwork, and ornate brass detailing. The church’s pipe organ has been given new life as a chandelier in the lobby!

We will each order off the restaurant’s creative and healthy brunch menu, available here: https://www.thelinehotel.com/dc/restaurants-bars/no-goodbyes/ You are responsible for the cost of your lunch, it is not included.
