Join us Tuesday, June 13, at 6:00pm, for a discussion with John Adam Wasowicz (HKS MPA ‘88) about Hazel Falls, book 6 of his Old Town mystery series. The book’s opening scene is at the Alexandria water treatment plant, where ‘Hazel,’ a boring device, is digging a trench beneath Old Town to redirect overflow water to the plant in lieu of dumping it directly into the Potomac River.
When John learned about the project last year, he immediately contacted AlexRenew, the manager, to tour the facility and survey the silo into which ‘Hazel’ was lowered. Then he returned home and wrote the environmental project into his new fictional mystery.
During our online conversation, John will discuss blending ongoing events and current locations into a work of fiction and how it creates a compelling storyline for readers.
The discussion of Hazel Falls will precede the formal release of the book, which will take place on Tuesday, June 20, at 6 p.m., at Elaine’s restaurant on Queen Street in Old Town, to which all club members are invited.
Order the book from MADE IN ALX located in Old Town in advance of the June 13 online discussion or at the June 20 event at Elaine’s.
